B Naked Chocolates

Thoughtful chocolates, coconut macaroons, bars, desserts and other treats made without dairy, soy, gluten or refined sugar. Paleo, vegan, diabetic & raw friendly. Mindfful treats because we care about what you eat. Artisan chocolates, coconut macaroons, protein and fruit bars and other treats made without dairy, soy, gluten or refined sugar. Paleo, vegan, diabetic & raw friendly.

As an endurance athlete and publisher of a health and fitness magazine, I understood how important what we eat is to performance and our overall health. One problem, I love chocolate and sweets. The fix: create clean chocolates, treats and snacks with whole foods, a short list of ingredients and loaded with flavor that improve performance and health.

The results: chocolates, coconut macaroons and desserts that happen to be free of dairy, gluten, grains, soy, eggs and refined sugar. So why b Naked? The b is for my last name and the Naked for everything not in our product. Our mission is to change the world, one flavorful bite at a time.

Rock Steady Boxing Gilbert

THE CHALLENGE

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative movement disorder which can cause deterioration of motor skills, balance, speech and sensory function. The Parkinson’s Foundation estimates there are more than 1 million people in the United States diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and more than 60,000 people are diagnosed each year. Rock Steady Boxing is the first gym in the country dedicated to the fight against Parkinson’s. In our gym, exercises are largely adapted from boxing drills. Boxers condition for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, accuracy, hand-eye coordination, footwork and overall strength to defend against and overcome opponents. At RSB, Parkinson’s disease is the opponent. Exercises vary in purpose and form but share one common trait: they are rigorous and intended to extend the perceived capabilities of the participant.

THE ROCK STEADY BOXING SOLUTION

Various studies in the 1980s and 1990s supported the notion that rigorous exercise, emphasizing gross motor movement, balance, core strength, and rhythm, could favorably impact range of motion, flexibility, posture, gait, and activities of daily living. More recent studies, most notably at Cleveland Clinic, focus on the concept of intense “forced” exercise, and have begun to suggest that certain kinds of exercise may be neuroprotective, i.e., actually slowing disease progression. Our clients attest, and academic institutions, such as University of Indianapolis and Butler University, are reporting and documenting the improved quality of life among our boxers. Discovery of a cure may be many years away but in the last seven years, there is evidence that progress is made in all stages of the disease by those participating in the RSB program.

Bergies Coffee Roast House

Bergies was founded in 2008 by two brothers, Brian and Bruce Bergeson, in Gilbert, Arizona. The actual store, located in the historic Heritage District of Gilbert, opened its doors in early 2009. Bergies prides itself with quality coffee, custom roasted by the brothers themselves. Their passion for a good cup of coffee has led to their desire to discover as much about roasting coffee beans and the incredible flavors and aromas associated with the process.

The wonderful coffee aroma at Bergies frequently leads to questions about our roasting process. Bergies specializes in custom roasting and blending of coffee beans. Understanding that beans are a crop, and crops constantly change due to varying conditions, Bergies works with several different importers to ensure that they import only the best beans available from Central America, South America, Africa, and Indonesia.

Aqua Tots Ahwatukee

It all started in a pool, but not one of the indoor, 90° pools that tots have come to love over the last 29 years. Our mission began in a community pool in Tempe, Arizona, where one teenage lifeguard taught one single lesson, and a dream was born.

Since 1991, Aqua‐Tots Swim Schools has operated under a concrete system of corporate core values that are an integral part of an Aqua-Tots working environment and shape the way our schools do business each and every day.

Our Core Values:

1. Affirm each other's strengths and protect his/her weakness.

2. Treat others the way you desire to be treated.

3. Extend grace to those who are teachable.

4. Seek first to understand others, before trying to be understood.

5. Choose relationships over profits.

6. Think outside the box - always question the status quo.

7. Praise in public, correct in private.

Good Mud Ceramics

Jordan Nunez creates art for people who, like her, are looking to add beauty into their everyday moments. Her passion is to remind you of the wonder and whimsy that surrounds us all just by being alive. She is a self-taught artist and ceramicist, a mother, and a wife. When she doesn't have my hands covered in mud and inspiration, she can be found outside in the desert; rock-climbing, foraging sustainable wild foods, and camping with her sweet family. Being an Arizona local, she is endlessly inspired by our incredible desert scenery. From the Superstition Mountains, to Sedona, and Monument Valley, there is no shortage of beauty that surrounds her and her work.

d'Vine Gourmet

d'Vine Gourmet was started by Denise McCreery in Tucson, Arizona in 2003; it was born from a love of food and wine and a desire to share our culinary creations with others. As a tried and true Arizonan, we also wanted to showcase the unique flavors of our great state in a refined, 'foodie' friendly way.

Our first endeavor was to turn wine into jelly, which made its sold-out debut at a local farmer's market...a commercial kitchen soon followed which now produces a varied and award winning line of jams, mustards, candies, snacks and spices. We are self-proclaimed localvores and procure our raw materials and supplies locally as often as possible.

Gourmet gifts and gift baskets came next, featuring both our products and other Arizona made gourmet treats.  Our gift baskets are all made fresh to order, are available in a variety of sizes and styles using only the freshest products possible.  From one gift to one thousand, everyone on your gift list will know exactly how much you care by the quality you send....that's our promise, that's the d'Vine difference.

Locavore

Now more than ever, it is critical that communities come together to support local businesses - so that they may succeed in the current environment, and thrive beyond it.

As Locavore’s founder and a born-and-raised Arizonan, I’ve found myself wondering what can be done to support the businesses I’ve come to know and love - businesses that make AZ truly special. I grew up wandering the east valley farmers markets, and developed an affinity for the creativity and perseverance of the local businesses that made them run. It was in this spirit that Locavore was born.

Every box will be developed with a focus on the vendors who supply the products - these aren’t merely transactional relationships. It is my hope that our consumers will find gratification in supporting long-standing businesses they know and love, as well as budding businesses they may be discovering for the first time.

We also take our carbon footprint very seriously - and for that reason, we commit to sustainably sourcing our packaging materials. Our boxes and packaging inserts are made of 100% recycled cardboard, and sourced predominantly from post-consumer and post-industrial waste.

ICAN - Youth Organization

ICAN is a free youth center in the East Valley that offers programming for youth, teens, families and the community. ICAN’s nationally-recognized prevention programming teaches disadvantaged youth real-life skills including goal setting, positive decision making and how to avoid the risky behaviors that are prevalent in the community ICAN serves. ICAN’s evidence-based programming equips youth to achieve personal and academic success. Parenting classes and substance abuse education complete ICAN’s programming, impacting the entire community.

ICAN is accredited by the National Council on Accreditation, was recently named “Outstanding Afterschool Program” by the Arizona Center for After School Excellence and was a national winner of the 2015 National Exemplary Award for Innovative Substance Abuse Prevention Programs. For more information about ICAN, call (480) 821-4207 or visit www.icanaz.org.

8 out of 10 young people in the areas we serve are living in extreme poverty. Four of those children will go to bed hungry at night and eight will be using drugs or alcohol to cope with the harsh realities they face. Joining gangs becomes a more viable choice than graduation in the community we serve. This is not an option for ICAN. We exist to combat these issues and build strong futures for them and for our community.

Clothes Cabin - One Small Step

All the operations of Clothes Cabin and Friends Boutique are accomplished by approximately 70 regular volunteers, who give about 900 hours a month to the organization. The staff of One Small Step consists of the Executive Director, and an Operations Assistant.   The largest expense is the necessary cost of the program delivery site. Mortgage, utilities, insurance, and supplies account for more than half the expenses of the program.

The largest source of funding for Clothes Cabin and its services is from individuals like you.

One Small Step is a Qualifying Charitable Organization for purposes of the Arizona Tax Credit and benefits greatly from cash donations of $800 or less as a result of the tax credit. (See Donate for more information.) Foundations, corporations, churches, and community organizations provide the next largest segment of revenue; however, sales of donated (non-clothing) items through Friends Resale Boutique have provided the organization with an increasing amount of earned revenue.

One Small Step has a Governing Board of five members, two of which have been with the organization from its inception. An Advisory Board of 8 to 12 members advises the Governing Board at quarterly meetings. Its members represent stakeholders from large corporations, small business, banking, law, community service organizations, marketing, city government, and the volunteers.
