ASA Now - Volunteers Needed
At ASA now and Jacob’s Mission Community Center in Mesa we have created daily opportunities for our community to make a real impact in the lives of our most vulnerable population.
Within each one of you lies the potential to curve the statistics that foster children face. You can change the future of one of the 14,000 children that are currently in foster care.
The founders of ASA Now are three foster adopt mamas with a dream to change the grim statistics foster children face. Below are a few of those statistics.
Two out of three foster children end up dead, homeless or in jail within a year of aging out.
Girls in Foster Care Pregnant by 19 - 50%
Former Foster Kids in U.S. Prison - 74%
Incarcerated within 2 years of "Age Out" - 50%
Former Foster Youth on Death Row - 80%
Number of Foster Kids that graduate college - 1-3%
Number of Foster Kids that graduate high school - 33%
*45 minutes of your time once a week can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Market Update
We continue to have a front seat to one of the fastest changing markets in Arizona history since 2000. In just the last 6 weeks, we have increased our inventory by 42% and nearly doubled it year over year meaning that as buyers you have twice as many homes to choose from as you did this time last year and sellers - well, we’re going to have to start talking about prices. While we did expect that rising interest rates and home prices would cause buyers to pull back from the market which in turn would mean that homes would start sitting on the market longer, we did not anticipate that sellers would feel this shift in the market so quickly and respond by putting their homes on the market at such a rapid pace.
Right now we are seeing homes come to the market about 13% faster than pre-Covid times. While we haven’t seen our institutional buyers change their buying habits making up about 15% of all sales below the median price of $475,000 - if they were to pull out of the market, we’d certainly see the inventory climb at an even quicker pace.
It will be interesting to see if seasonality sets in over the next few weeks and the rate of new listings slows down - if we continue at this pace we could be in a balanced market by September. Now, keep in mind - Arizona has not spent much time in a balanced market given its continuous influx of new businesses, job growth, and amazing resorts for summer staycations - but knowing how rare it is that the market would shift so quickly, it does lend a sense of urgency to folks who have built up equity in their home and want to be able to use it and still know that they can sell quickly if priced, staged and prepped, marketed and negotiated property.
We’ve already started to see list prices slow way down - meaning that they are not escalating nearly as quickly as they were when offers and waivers were flying around in the Spring, and we do expect quite a few price reductions as sellers realize that their homes are sitting without them. Buyers and sellers will have to start working together again - we saw the need for experienced agents who could have navigate the extreme sellers market we’ve been in for the last two years and we will absolutely see the need for experienced agents who can navigate the new uncharted territory of the race to balance.
